We then create a bespoke hot drink offering that maximises operational efficiency and profitability. The whole mentoring process, plus all equipment, is supplied without any capital input from the client. What do you like best about your job?
“My favourite part of my job is seeing everything come together on the client install day. There is so much work that goes into it – from site surveys to menu planning, to conceptualising the full live site.”
“To leave our client and their staff producing barista quality coffee with confidence and hear the sound of their till ringing from day one, is the most satisfying thing. I also really enjoy revisiting my sites regularly to maintain their business development. I take great pride in being able to say that I am still working with the same clients after 14 years.”
“I am also fortunate to be part of our promotional drinks development team. We have so much fun developing seasonal drinks to support the core menu. My favourite creation is still the indulgent S’mores Hot Chocolate, loaded with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, caramel drizzle, biscuit crumb and marshmallows. Everyone needs to try it!”
Would you describe your work as a regular, 9-5?
“Definitely not! And I like it that way! Ultimately, it is the people I meet that make my work so interesting. I have clients located from Inverness to Margate, some in cities and others in forests, from single kiosks to national accounts, not forgetting high end gastronomy. The challenge is creating a bespoke, best fit solution. And that’s what keeps me getting out of bed in the morning.”
And finally… what do you think Blue Cap gives in terms of best value to businesses?
“With our team’s combined wealth of knowledge and experience over many years in the coffee industry, I firmly believe that the free on-going training programme we implement to be the most valuable part of our service. We build bespoke programs for each client’s requirements. This includes a training session to be delivered on site, prior to the site opening. This can cater for teams of up to 40 staff in one day, or be a one-to-one training session, it all depends on the nature of the business and what’s best for it.”
“Each trainee will complete the course with a comprehensive knowledge of all elements to building a drink: Presentation, Speed of Service; and Health and Safety Guidance on safe operation of machinery.”
